Why do my pains keep returning despite doing my exercises?

It really depends on what you are doing and whether it is the right thing for you right now.

There are many types of exercise and there are also many different versions of similar exercises that target similar areas. This allows you to be able to make exercises easier or harder.

Eg take the plank, easier versions include knee plank, wall plank, bird dog. Harder versions include plank leg lift, shoulder taps, plank jacks. Look at the images - there are so many plank variations you can do. They will all challenge you slightly differently.

When it comes to moving away from pain though, this is the time to really look at what you are doing and why.

If you aren’t feeling any improvements from the exercises you are doing, it may be your body isn’t engaging correctly and the exercise is at the wrong level for you or you may just be doing the wrong exercise for your issue.

When you find you aren’t making progress, this is when a coach like me becomes handy. We can assess your needs, look at how you move and supervise your movements.

But the physio gave you the exercises?

So you'd assume they are the correct level for you? I would, but the correct level for you is dependent on your level of ability, strength and fitness. And more so, your ability to perform the exercise well.
